The most reliable workflow combines a well-defined editorial promise, objective visual direction, controlled variations, and human review. Start with the content promise
Before deciding on a color, pose, or effect, write one sentence describing what the audience will find in the content. That sentence is the foundation of the thumbnail. It should be specific enough to guide the image, but it does not need to appear in full in the layout.
Separate the content title from the text that may appear in the image. The title explains and provides context; the thumbnail highlights a tension, transformation, object, or visual question. When both repeat exactly the same message, you lose the opportunity to add information.

Only then should you export in the correct aspect ratio for the selected platform.
